THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

I may have a chance to buy an early 69 custom in the next few weeks and I'm wondering where the market is for these right now... I've been told its a one piece neck, one piece body with transitional tenon. As usual the ones I see for sale seem to be unrealistically expensive and nothing seems to be moving on the bay etc... What is the range for these right now in all original condition? I'd love to get an idea of the spread between 68 specs and late 69 specs. Thanks

One piece neck and one piece body early 69 should have long tenon, not transitional. They go for 6-13k, depending on condition. Great guitars btw. :)

Mine is a one piece neck trans tenon and sounds amazing!!! I'm into mine for around 7000.00 but it didn't have all the original parts on it either.

Thanks for your input guys... one more question to ponder. Do you guys think these late 60s customs will hold their value in the coming years? Are they in the same class as 335s and sgs from the early sixties?

I'm sure they will, they're the closest to a late 50's guitars other than the ebony board.

I used to hire a 68 custom in a rehearsal room in the mid 80's Topper guitar! I hope the "B" collectors dont get their hands on them and shove them in a cupboard. Great players guitar.

early 69 was a very transitional period; my mid-69 Custom had a one-piece body, 3-piece neck, shorter tenon. 2/3 ain't bad; you still have the one-piece body and neck; the market for these guitars should continue to be strong; what price are they asking?
