Interesting….Joe’s desert island guitar/pedal/amp combo is his ‘51 Nocaster, a green box “of some sort” (TS), and a fender twin reissue. I wished Rick asked a follow up question: “and why the Tele, not a Les Paul?”

And it was hard to go wrong with the Lester-Jubilee he was riding right there. Lots of good tones.

Another follow-up should have been: OK, so what happens after your retire from the road with your pen?

Needs a real 58 treble volume knob also! Of all of Joes real 50's LP's that is the coolest one. I love the vibe it gives off and you know that guitar rocks through a nice tweed amp. Go Joe!

I wonder what kinda smokes JB enjoys; Cuban, NC, ?

I've been smoking for the past ~18 years and I have to say I have become an Arturo Fuente fanboy.
Between the Anejo, the CC Divine Inspiration and the Opus X blends I have been ruined.
Cubans better have something on these but I'm willing to try a good Cuban smoke but I'm not willing to import them and have them confiscated.
I know some folks that received that nasty notice from US Customs and they were like; nope, I'm not gonna reply to that. :ROFLMAO:

we should tell JB that smoking is bad ........ OK, not me.

I nearly died from pneumonia at 21 months of age, had pneumonia at least 8 times the first 24 years of my life, childhood asthma until I was 15, more cases of flu than I could count on my fingers & toes, numerous upper respiratory infections, smoked ciggies for 24 years, smoked giggles weed for 23 years, now smoking cigars for nearly 17 years and I still go to the gym three out of four days every month.
Technically I have 1 more year of total lung damage from smoking various things during my life time than my current age. :)
Technically I should not be able to breath but yet my doctors say I'm in perfect health.
I know fat, over weight, obese and diabetic teens and 20 somethings that couldn't walk down the block without losing their crap and none of them have smoked in their lives, yet here I am at a month shy of 63 and I can't wait to wake up every day and get my butt to the gym. :D

I agree; smoking is bad but not for me.
Anyone seen my lighter?

I liked the part where he's talking about EC and Crossroads; "he didn't work this out." That was funny. He covers a lot of ground in this video, and anyone that has played, gigged, recorded or what have you, can totally relate to it. He's good at being accessible and conversational. Now contrast this to say sitting down with Keith Richards in 1972. It would be a little different. Love them both.

Oh man I hate Cigars.. 40 years ago I was playing with Sam Neely. We were on MCA Records/Nashville. It's now Universal. But Sam smoked 4 or 5 Cigars a day. Not what you want to smell when you're trying to rehearse or travel. It was those big Cubans.. No thanks.. And I was a cigarette smoker in those days. I think what cured me was getting bronchitis and/or Pneumonia once a month. I quit in 1988 after 20 years.
