• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Or is it a '54? I'm too lazy to look it up and I forgot. Anyway,

We don't hear this guy at least on this forum....enough.

The magnificent and sorely missed bluesman.. Sean Costello

RIP my brother!!

Anyway...can you tell me what Fender amp this is? It doesn't appear to be a Twin, and they look like 12" maybe 15"? speakums. The name looks long....so maybe it is a clone of some kind with a name that's somewhat long? I don't know...I guess it could be a Vibrolux with 12" speakers in it? Is it a Vibroverb???

Looks like a Vibrolux or Vibroverb. I thought he used Deluxe Reverbs.

Yup, that's some serious blues.
Love it!
There's a cool thread with a pic of Sean's '53 from earlier this year.
Great looking Goldtop.
Thanks.

When he does "it's my own fault" (another vid) he even sings like Otis Rush. The playing is so free- just like singing skat.

Mainly played a 54 Wraptail, but the 56 was a reissue that had Lollar P90's if I remember quickly. I think he died in 08.

Seldom do folk play witd the quality of the late 60s player. Kind of like finding a modern day Kris Kristofferson.

He had a Vibrolux for a long time untill it got stolen along with the band trailer in front of his house, Hammond Organ and all. The last few times I saw him him he had a nice Pro Reverb along with the R6. He was keeping the old original GT back at the house then. He commented that he wished he'd gotten an R4 instead as he felt thay had more sustain with the wrap around bridge.

I have said this before but it is worth repeating. I was turned onto him right hear on the Les Paul Forum and was immediately in love with his tone and passion and because of that started on my quest for a P90's Gold Top. I use my 2009 R4 as my number one guitar now. People use to take bets on what guitar I would use from week to week at my gig, now they just expect to see the Gold Top.

Here is an interesting thread from the Gear Page about the amps Sean used.

Yeah Sean's goldtop was a 53 and he used a deluxe reverb and gibson amps mostly. The video above is most likely his historic RI.

He's one of the (IMHO) very few people who can actually keep you interested while playing very standard blues songs. And his singing was incredible!

Dynamics combined with melodic arpeggios/chording in the solos. Tasty,

Sweet Jesus have mercy!

The man and his guitar sound like they're going through an exorcism.

Otis Rush himself would surely say "see that white boy over there? That's how its done."

I pity the fool that had to follow Sean on stage.
