• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Five again.

There was my first LP. Then there were 3 then 5 then 7. No matter how many times I thin the herd, I keep coming back to five Les Pauls being exactly the right number for me.

This allows me to have one hanging to look at and play occasionally, another as number 1, and 3 in rotation for number 2.

I used to keep 3 to play rarely, a number one and a back up, but the last year or so I've found that I play better overall if I rotate guitars more often. I get less hung up on every micron of fit and feel and just work a bit harder to play.

Those of you with modest collections, but not the bigger collectors, what's the right number and how do you play them?

Exactly the same thing here I scaled back to 3 guitars which has slowly grown back to 10 in the last 12 months :##

My 2 acoustics aren't pictured here, but I guess GAS always gets the bettter of me, I'm currently on the hunt for a WH or '63 335 :jim

I didn't count accessory guitars such as basses and acoustics. I see 5 LPs and some other toys. Very nice LPs and the accessory guitars are pretty nice too!

I'll have to take some family photos, but here's a few random shots.

I currently have 3 Gibson's. At one point I had 22 Les Paul's. I sold most of them off when the wife and I downsized our house after the kids moved out.

Currently I have:

2007 Gibson Custom Shop VOS LP Jr. the wife bought me for my 40th b-day.
1988 Gibson LP Studio. I bought this one brand new and it's my player.
1985 Gibson SG. Bought this one in '88 at the same time I bought the Studio. Love this SG.

2012 Fender Eric Johnson Strat
2001 Fender MIM P-Bass
2004 Martin D15 Acoustic

I'm very content with these guitars, but eventually I'll own another honeyburst as shown in my avatar. That's the only guitar I really regret selling.

It's not an ES. it's what ultimately became the LP Florentine . When i got it in like 1997, I called Gibson to ask about it and they called it a Bantam. Today they call it a Florentine. It's quite rare to find one configed like a standard. Its hollowed solid mahogany and maple. In that sense, its one of Gibsons first chambered guitars I guess.
It's an amazing guitar and was my number one for 14 years. I am trying to retire it now.
