There was my first LP. Then there were 3 then 5 then 7. No matter how many times I thin the herd, I keep coming back to five Les Pauls being exactly the right number for me.
This allows me to have one hanging to look at and play occasionally, another as number 1, and 3 in rotation for number 2.
I used to keep 3 to play rarely, a number one and a back up, but the last year or so I've found that I play better overall if I rotate guitars more often. I get less hung up on every micron of fit and feel and just work a bit harder to play.
Those of you with modest collections, but not the bigger collectors, what's the right number and how do you play them?
