Who was it that suggested (several times) to use baby powder to counteract the sticky neck syndrome?

ALright, now that source has been established, the question is 'Why do you ask'?

Well, I just wanted to thank you now that I know who you are. It works just like you said it would. And it comes off quite nicely when you're done.

For some reason, none of the oil-based or polish-based solutions seem to work (for me anyway). When the humidity or temperature is right, the neck lacquer gets sticky and it's downhill from there. The baby powder dries it up and keeps it dry.

Thanks Ed.

No sweat.;)
One of the really cool things about it is if you do it three or four times, the neck will eventually stop collecting moisture and it'll STAY smooth and dry without more powder.

I was kind of hoping that would be the case, but I invested in an extravagant bottle of baby powder anyway (I don't know how these kids afford this stuff).

I put it on my palm and then rubbed it on the neck. Most of it falls off... It will get on the fingerboard too... unavoidable. But all of it came right off when I wiped the guitar down after playing. Seems relatively side effect free from what I can tell. How can it be any worse than using polish, oil, or that fret grease that they sell?

Ed? Have you noticed any problems?

I tried the talcum powder thing once. It worked but I found that if you get any traces on your fingertips or unwound strings they resonate as you slide up and down - a bit like the old finger round the top of a wine glass trick.

I haven't needed to use it for a long time, but I never noticed a single side effect. I never paid any attention to how I put it on- I guess you can put it on any old way you want to. I also never noticed aby change in the way my fingers felt on the strings. There's absolutely no tone change whatsoever that I can tell.
Use it or don't, but it solved the sticky neck problem for me completel with no notiuceable side effects whatsoever.
