57 Classic question

Just won this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=290251754292&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=019

Good price I thought. Been looking for the 57 classic for a while.

Here's the question:

The one I won was a regular 57 Classic. If I were to get a 57 classic "plus", that would be a slightly hotter pickup, right?

So, I could place this normal 57 classic in the neck, and the "plus" in the bridge, yes? I realize I may have to extend the lead from this normal 57 classic to reach from the neck cavity to the back panel/pots, but still...

Any help is appreciated.

I think I'm right on this, just asking for confirmation.

Thanks!

that's the idea. that's why they make the plus version.
in truth, both work well in both positions.

whats the resistance on the 57 classic? output? any numbers aside from the bar chart gibson has showing their pickups and their overall hotness?

thanks!

The two in my SG measure 7.84k and 7.91k. The two that I took out of my Custom, which aren't confirmed to be '57 Classics but I think they are measure 7.86k and 7.94k.

awesome, thanks.

im trying to find a good neck position pickup to match it, but nothing too expensive. i got a good price for the bridge, 60 dollars used, but to get a new one is about 100.

anything by Dimarzio or Duncan or someone that would be a good neck alternative to another 57 classic?

or should i just shell out the extra dough and not be a stiff.

I think you'll like that combination. The plus can grind pretty darn good without losing the range that the highly overwound varieties will. I find it blends nicely with the standard '57 also.
