• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

I don't like to post pics of my GAS, and I hardly ever do, but I want this badly:

It is exactly what I have been wanting, but have rarely seen -- single tailpiece, P90s, Iced Tea burst. Aaaaaah! the GAS hurts. I may have to sell off everything else I own to be able to pay for this (not being wealthy sucks sometimes).

People that have purchased from Private Reserve: Are the listed prices firm, or do they discount?

People who own '54 RIs: Are the necks on these baseball bat-like? I have a '58 and I find the neck just a bit thick for me (actually it's not the thickness, but the contour that I find a smidge uncomfortable).

Thanks.

Yep, they'll knock some money off of that, my guess is you could probably get it for closer to $2800 but don't quote me on it.

I'd love to have an R4 but I want a Goldtop. That Iced Tea look great though.

I have an R7 and an R4 and the necks are pretty much the same.

BTW, I like the R4 Burst!

Gibson necks are all over the place these days, I'm afraid.

My 2003 R7 neck is thick and somewhat flattened, with big, square shoulders.

My 2005 R4 neck is even thicker than the 2003 R7, but with round shoulders. The overall profile is more round, and fills my hand nicely.

I prefer the R4's profile, but can definitely handle the R7 because it's such a good sounding, responsive guitar. I like fat necks, but I prefer very round profiles. The 60's slim taper on my SG bugs me because it's so "squared off." Slim doesn't help me if it's squared off. I use it for slide only, because the shoulders don't really factor in with slide, and the upper fret access is so good.

Thanks for the answers y'all. I'll contact them and see what they can do for me. Then I'll see if I can swing it, although I'm not keeping my hopes up, though.

Best of luck 3th3r, that's a REAL nice guitar and would make an ideal companion to a 'buckered TOM which I assume your '58 is. Ain't GAS a killer?

Be sure to check Guitarsale, Wildwood, Centre City and other forum dealers as well.

They will usually have some R4s like this, especially Wildwood.

Good Luck
