I have a friend who found out about a possible LP guitar and amp package deal, Marshall head and cab. He is really only interested in the amp/cab so was sort of wondering whether it might be worth it to go for the deal on the assumption he would be able to find someone interested in the guitar and get some of his money back. According to what he was told the guitar is a Les Paul Recording in pretty good shape from around 1973...
I had to look that one up to be sure of the details, it is in the Bacon and Day book. It is definitely quite unconventional (the Recording looks to have been a followup to the Les Paul Professional and Les Paul Personal, low impedance pickups, some funky extra switches) in terms of what we generally think of when someone mentions a Les Paul, so I really have no idea what something like that might be worth. Maybe if a collector was trying to get one of every model LP ever made then maybe there would be some interest. (Hey MikeSlub what do ya think? ;))
Any thoughts?

I see these on Ebay quite a bit ... they seem to fo for 6-800 depending on the condition.

One in good shape with Les's signature went for over 1000 last week.

Heck get a pic of it and post it for sale here, you never can tell, there are over 3000 members now.

Brian: The LP Recordings pop up quite frequently for sale on ebay and in stores. There's a picture of a late 70's Recording in cherry sunburst on my photo page - pretty rare color (most were walnut color, although I've seen a few in white or black). In excellent condition they sell for about $1,000. or so. They are cool guitars for what they do - good for jazz, etc. The low impedance pickups and all the confusing controls on them didn't help their popularity. Also, most are very heavy. Hope this helps. :)
