Today it was announced that Jason Isbell has filed for divorce from his wife Amanda. I kinda hate that this even occurred to me, but I wonder if this means Redeye is going to be going to a new home.

That’s a shame.. seems like a nice guy..
I’d hazard a guess Redeye would be the last guitar Mr Isbell would want to sell.. given its amazing provenance and how it came into his possession.

I think many professionals set up the gear in a separate corporation or trust which might keep it at arms length.
I guess it depends if they just grew apart or she caught him doing the dirty hula.

So the guy has to go through a horrible life changing struggle and your mind goes directly to what happens to his guitar? I know this is a guitar forum but….

Funny, my guitar buddy’s first reaction to that news was “she most likely snuck into another man’s singlewide.”

He has a tight pre-nup and a top divorce lawyer, I’d be surprised if Red Eye goes anywhere, especially as he’s got others in the heard that can be sacrificed first (if it really came to that)

Perhaps those with the right connections might have heard otherwise but I don’t see it happening. If I didn’t have to own somewhere to live I’d love the red 60 Custom that he got from GuitarPoint, was in the same room as it but I’d already played a burst they had and wasn’t cheeky enough to ask if they’d let me take that one for a spin too.

Certainly playing enough dates to build up a decent financial war chest this year.

He ain’t gonna let Redeye go!lol I’m sure there would be a convenient ‘fire’ or ‘theft’ before that happened.

Maybe his guitars would fall under “tools of the trade” and therefore not be included in his divorce settlement?

It’s possible their ownership is registered under a business interest to allow for tax write-offs, depreciation, group insurance etc. and therefore separated.

It’s been reported in the tabloids etc that he has a pre-nup and which lawyer he’s using in Nashville. There’s a child involved too so you’d hope that it won’t be some kind of war of attrition.

Regardless I don’t see Jason letting Red Eye go before everything else is sold off, there’s other Dumbles, there’s other blackguard Teles, Les Paul’s, Strats etc. and I’m sure other assets (property, songwriting residuals etc) and paths to follow.
I just really doubt he’d be left short enough financially that his single most-prized and hardest to replace possession is what gets sacrificed.
