I have an old SG/LesPaul serial number 220641 Cherry red. Trying to find what year it was made. Could be a 64 but not sure. Is NOT marked made in USA on back of headstock.
Any help from someone is appreciated.

According to Guitar HQ: Range 1964 = 176644 to 250335; no 'Made in USA' is proper, and should also have double line, double ring Klusons.

It does have the double ring Klusons. I'm not owner at this time so pics not available. But it was purchased in 1970, used, for his high school grad gift. So it is definitely pre 1970 which is why I thought a 1964 based on serial number. Thanks for the info and help. Really appreciated. He does not have the OHSC so not sure how hat may affect value. No apparent cracks or damage either. Pretty sure also it is a Special with P90 pickups.

After 1962 the Les Paul markings were no longer (a few dribbled into '63, I had one) -- check the pot codes 1376xxx with 6x giving the year and xx the week

According to Duchossoir, the last les Paul standards went out the door in October 1963. The Les Paul script on the truss rod cover was dropped. The only other Les Paul with markings was the Junior with the classic silk screen script that was also dropped after late 1963.

Well and good, point is that if it really is a Les Paul/SG (marked as such) it's probably not a '64, though stranger things have happened at these factories
