Just had confirmation from Nobels that the Nobels ODR-1 30th Anniversary Overdrive Limited Edition Gold Sparkle’s circuit is akin to the original version and different from the reissues.. inc the green sparkle Ltd Ed from a few years ago..

It does not color-coordinate with my other pedals so no...I would not buy it.

It needs to be a gentle mauve or mushroom possibly with a neutral grey pad and eggshell markings.

Congratulations on the confirmation! The Nobels ODR-1 30th Anniversary Overdrive Limited Edition Gold Sparkle with its original circuit sounds like a collector's dream. The gold sparkle finish must make it even more special. Happy playing!

..
changed the circuit
apparently .. The first and second reissues sound different from each other and both in comparison to the original sound nothing like it.. the first set of reissues are exactly the same internally but they somehow don’t compare the same in gain.. so this gold issue, with updated internals, should hopefully be more like the original..

Excellent. Since discovering Tom Bukovac during lockdown I've been lusting for an ODR1 that sounds like the originals but that doesn't cost a fortune. Thanks. (y)

Tbh.. I A+B’d the new gold version with the Ltd Ed green sparkle version.. and yes the gold had a very slight more clarity.. but overall I couldn’t tell the difference ?‍♀️
That said, for my ears, it’s better than the blues driver (which is also on my board) which has too much crunch rather than break up.. which the odr1 has in spades..
tbh I’d go for the last standard version which are very cheap right now.
