I just got back from the Nashville show where I finally got to meet Dave Rogers. I have to say he is one great guy who will go the extra mile to help you. He had some 02 R8s that looked good. He had a 02 R8 Auth in the washed cherry. that I'm still thinking about go back out there and buying. Also a Dark and Tobacco Burst that really looked good. My only complaint is that the inlays are still rounded on the corners.
I was disappointed that Gibson didn't have anything set up. They were two reps there talking with Dave and that was it. Other than the Robber Barrons (L&M) in Chattanooga they don't seem to care much about the state they are located in.

Does seem odd that Gibson doesn't have their Historic trailer at a Nashville show!!

They haul that big friggin' thing to the Texas shows, but won't set it up in their own backyard?

:lol2

This is the first Nashville show that Dave has gone to.....I'll have have to ask him how it was when he gets back.

No that doesn't count. Actually they said it was in Daytona for "Bike Week." I can't imagine why anyone would rather look at a bunch of hot biker chicks than be here in Nashville.

Access, I was referring to L&M as being robber barrons. They weren't there. The two reps talking to Dave were from Gibson. I just don't think it is right that I live 15 minutes from Gibson and have to go outside of the state to get a nice Historic at a decent price. The only "Emerald Dealer" in the state is L&M and their prices are really high and on top of that I would have to pay 8.75% sales tax.
BTW, the two Gibson reps said that the changes for the new 59's are not finalized yet!

RobertD,

Can you quantify what the proposed changes are and what the Gibson reps had to say about implentation of the changes?

I have heard some posts realtive to '02 changes but it'd be good to get a recap based on the Gibson reps comments.

I passed on going to the Nashville show... I wish they would move the March Vintage show closer in to Nashville proper rather than at the I-24 Expo Center... I'd like to see at the old Ramada site... or even the fairgrounds would be good.

Thanks.

MP, all I really heard was they were talking about a flatter top carve (sanding), correct jackplate and switchwasher, improved pots and caps. They said all the changes have not been finalized yet.
I wish they would move it back to the Ramada also. It doesn't seem quite as big as it use to.

You said that Dave had some 02 R8s. I haven't seen any listed on his web site all year. Only 01s. I wonder why.

I think Dave went to Gibson on Friday and they delivered the 02 R8's to him at the show Saturday morning.

hank was at the show two days. Very cool.

Dave Rogers is one fine individual. I had wood for a new Gibson Advanced Jumbo reissue. hank

btw, that Washed Cherry finish is beyond cool.

In the CS web site they have a page that lists the schedule for the evil black truck trailer, and it does list the trailer as being at bike week from March 1 to 10. Maybe the bike week organizers got to Gibson before the Nashville show...

Hey Burstboy/Dr. Nick, while I think of it today on the news it mentioned something about a hospital having to evacuate one section or ward for a few hours because of some fumes. It turns out somebody spilled some... muratic acid. Muratic acid?, in a hospital? You and some of your buddies weren't by chance having a slow day and decided to try to age some LesPaul parts? :)spin or were you trying to age some nickel plated bedpans? :lolspin

RobtD...gotta give you my 2 cents. I know Dave Rogers & Brad Putt --both have been more than very good to deal with (I do understand your sales tax issue, though). Maybe for a fee, I can peform negotiations for ya.....;\
