Hi all…

Im sure this has been covered before but does anyone have any tips on playing a Super Bass by pushing the drive out on lower volumes? There seems to be all sorts or add-ons (Powerbreak, o-drive pedals etc) but what are people using to stop blowing the side of your houses out 🤣

Thanks

My ‘70 (1986) Bass. I use OD pedals to control volume and provide gain at home.

A Greer Lightspeed for lower gain and a J-Rockett Dude for medium or higher gain. Use the volume knob on the pedal.

Both of these pedals are fairly transparent and sound great with my Marshall’s.

Sound advice, I say.

So out of interest....were the volumes for channel I & II pumped for the gain or were these really low and everything controlled by the pedals? I'm just trying to understand how to push the amp as it should be without blowing my walls out ;-) is it volume 'High' on the amp and 'LOW' on the pedals or vice versa? thanks

I use Fryette Power Stations (a PS-2 or a PS-100, they are similar) with my vintage Marshalls, either to run them into just one cab without fearing for the life of my beloved Pulsonics or to tame them for reasonable volumes.

If you want to hear the output section saturating and crunching, it's the only way other than an iso-cab (which is also a great option).

Are you recording, playing with a band or just noodling on your own?

I record my amps (2203 etc) at full volume and have them in a separate room, or more recently in a soundproofed closet.

If you’re playing with a band or on your own try the Fryette.

I refuse to use a device on my amps that's pronounced "fry-it". :ROFLMAO:
