• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I'm looking for some '70s "gold center" witch hat knobs that would come on an early '70s Black Beauty LP...I've found repros aplenty but none of them are exactly right. Either the numbers don't look right or the knobs say "volume" instead of "vol." Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I had the same issue. I bought an old Custom with replaced pickups, knobs, and poker chip. TRC and pickguard were real, tuners had been changed and changed back, but it was only $1800.

I ended up spending about $200 to get the real knobs and poker chip at Dallas a few years ago. It killed me to do it, but it was the only way to get the right-looking parts. I think this era, as awesome as they are, isn't valued enough for people to be trying to cop the look like on a 50s.

I can tell you that the guitar looked 100% better once the real parts were on it.

I remember seeing a gallon bucket of vintage Gibson knobs (albeit a little over half full) at a show 20 years ago. Guy wanted $200 bucks for the whole bucket and I thought he was nuts. Should'a bought!
