• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I went and done it.. 01' Hist 335

Ok guys, I'm finally over the edge.. I'm now officially a Gibson guy.
I got a call from Dave's in WI, that my '01 Historic 335 was shipping today.. Sunburst finish, etc, etc.. I write up a more comprehensive report when it's in my hands.

My inventory is now 75% Gibson, 25% Fender after being Fender exclusive for the last 28 years.. 3 Gibsons, 1 Fender..

And you'll be proud to know that I actually traded a Fender for part of it.. I feel so clean now.. :)spin

But I'm keeping one Strat just in case I get the shakes.. ;)

Cool beans, Dave! I'm still married to my PRS, but a semi-hollow would indeed be a sweet mistress to have waiting on the side... :wail:

I haven't been paying attention...

...over the past few months, so I wasn't party to the creeping conversion.

Your '01 Historic 335 put you over the edge and you still have a Strat in case of withdrawl symptoms, but what are your other two guitars? Both Gibsons, and I assume at least one is a LP, but what are they?

Yeah it sort of creeped up there.. The conversion has been a swift and merciless one.

I have the 00 R9, 00 R54Custom and the new 335.. It all happened after I bought that damn R9.. I'd forgotten how good a 59 profile neck felt and how easy the sub 12 pounders are to play.. These new guitars that Gibson is making are so nice and light, and I didn't go the heavy flame route so I felt they were pretty reasonable on price.. The most I paid was for the R9 was $3200 with the others trailing off from there. I actually did all three deals thru horse trading, so the added out of pocket wasn't too bad.
I wasn't playing the Strats and Teles anymore, other than the one I kept, so I traded off the others, and it's been sitting in the case since the R9 showed up.. I guess this was to be expected!

Well anyway, thought I'd share my conversion to the light!!

Mental note...

Keep NOCD away from Kreig, or there will be another angry wife in the world... :)spin

Enjoy the guitar, Dave! You must have had *some* Fender clearout recently :)

Congrats Dave, looking forward to your report. I havent compared the historic 335 side by side with an R9, maybe you could give the rundown, tone differences.
