• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Might be adding another historic to the collection so I need some opinions!

A large historic dealer in my area has 2 of them. One is a green-blue metalic and the other is typical vintage white. Both are 3 pickup customs with the gold hardware. They are NOS unsold leftovers and are $1500 each out the door. Otherwise, they both sound pretty good even with the '57's in 'em but there may be some improvement left in some smart pickup swapping.

The GAS is building up on either one so help me fuel the fire..any thoughts on this model would be appreciated!

I have a Historic SG-LP in white. The price you were quoted is very good; I picked up mine (also NOS) for about $1550 including case and thought it was a steal. I'm still very happy with the guitar and like the way it sounds and plays. Make sure you're comfortable with the three pickup configuration though. Some people find the middle pickup gets in the way of picking.

You know, the three pickup configuration is what is attracting me to the guitar. After a while, one can only acquire so many 2 pickup Gibsons! Right?!?

A few years back, I bought the History Of Marshall by Doyle and the picture of the handsome white SG-Les Paul really attracted my to the design. I just may "make a special trip" tommorrow!

3 PU Wiring Question?

I just picked up one of these great guitars! I have always wanted one, but the real ones were too expensive. This is a 97 that was in excellent condition and hardly played. The only thing that seems wrong with it and it didn't stop me from getting it, was the neck pickup tone control didn't change the sound. It sounds like the tone is always off (Woman Tone).

Where can I get a complete wiring diagram for this 3 PU arrangement? What should I look for? I looked under the control cover and it didn't look like any "hack or mod" work had been done? I checked the Gibson site but their wiring diagram is incomplete for what I could see on screen.

Any help would be appreciated. Also, are the PU's the regular 57 Classic HB or is the bridge a 57 Classic Plus version? It sure has a nice "Bite" to it!

P.S. My White LP Custom has brown marks on the bacjk of the neck from the rubber tubing of a guitar stand. Is there any way to get it off?

I've always wanted one ever since a friend of mine had one back in the early '70's. If I had $1500, I'd jump on it, no bones about it.

I've been looking for an historic SG/Les Paul Custom for a while.
I'm looking for a stop tail in vintage white and gold hardware.
If anyone knows where I can get one for around $1500 could you let me know. Any help in tracking one down would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Stupid question

Were the original SG Customs "fretless wonders" like their LP Custom forebears? Or did they just have block inlays?

Thanks.
