I think the video of EJ trying out a guitar is educational. He's super far away from the amp. I think the amp is some kind of old tweed something-or-other?
He's playing a lot of lead lines and not too many chords - at least not big loud crunchy chords. I'm pretty confident that he's trying out the guitar and not the amp, but that's my guess. He's fiddling with the knobs and Varitone, so yeah, I think he's trying out the guitar.
At one point an ES335, (I think I heard 1962? It was a dot neck...?) shows up but we don't get to hear it.

Seems like Norm's only had a mono cable, which stuck EJ on the bridge pick up. I used to use a cable that combined the two pickups, but it sounded kinda crappy...so switched to mono and removed of Varitone on my 1959.
He seemed to like the instrument, long guard 1960 with Bigsby removal and Norm says replacement hardware. Wonder if the stop tail bushings were installed when it was built and covered with a plaque?
