THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
Well, I screwed up and got a 3rd Les Paul. This one's an R8 and he's "Earl" (The Duke of Earl). My Fender's are starting to complain as they're feeling a little left out at the moment.
P.S. I really have to learn out to resize these pics and still keep the good reso.
I have pair of those pickups. Clear bobbin, red wire, 2 large mahogany spacers for each pickup. They're wound hot as heck with almost equal turns of wire. ((
The spacers made the pickups DEEP but they were needed as the covers wouldn't fit over the base plates. BTW, my pair, from a '68 Les Paul...
Great stuff. Thanks for the links. Can't help but think the links below apply to me. I mean what kinda person actually likes this kind of stuff?

Wow, we've got creative folks here. No surprise being musicians 'eh.
Doc and Rock, if I were to follow your lead I'd name my next guitar Bitchy Mc'Bitchface.
I decided to name my Les Pauls today. Not sure why but, if forced to guess, I got tired of referring to them as "The Goldtop and The Standard" and I've really bonded with these to instruments after being Fender-thusiast for decades.
So let it be decreed that, from this day forward, my 2011...
Grog has it right. The date code on the pots will tell the story. BTW, the guitar dater project had this to say.
"Your guitar was made at the
Kalamazoo Or Nashville Plant, USA
in 1970, 1971 Or 1972
Production Number: 105001"
That kinda makes sense if not for the fact that the pen marks are on the long side of the pickup on the short side (poles). Sorry for the lack of clarity on my original post.
This is an alnico 3 magnet from a 80's T-Top.

Agreed.
Tech Rule 1 - Verify your plan is 100% good to go. In this case wiring diagrams and component values should be understood and verified to be right propa!
Tech Rule 2 - Check your gol dang work! - It's kinda like when the oil change guy forgets to put oil in the car AND doesn't check...
