Which do you think are the most important tonal qualities of a good Les Paul?

Here’s an excerpt I found…, Alex Lifeson of RUSH describes his first guitar purchase bought on the advance money from Mercury Records. 'the day we signed our American record deal with them is a day I'll never forget. We got an advance and went out and did some shopping at Long & McQuade Music...

I was under the impression he got rid of that guitar after he had the neck in a press a couple of times. But I agree with your as I’ve suffered through some dogs over the years hahaha ?

Wow! Thanks for your insight and experience in explaining the qualities of a great rock machine! I’m going to compare my two babies to your recommendations and determine if they cut the mustard!

Murphy Lab Nitro vs. Custom Shop Plasticized Nitro

The guitar had brass posts from the factory and I replaced the thumb wheels with Creamtone high end wheels.

Murphy Lab Nitro vs. Custom Shop Plasticized Nitro

I just took delivery of a new 2021 R9 Murphy light aged and also have a 2019 R9 VOS. The Murphy has more sustain, complexity, acoustic volume, brightness, resonance (vibration), and woody sounding. Beats the VOS by about 10%

Guys, please check out this bridge. I own one and am really loving the improvement it brings to my 2019 R9. Top flight quality built product and an excellent focused tone. I love it. https://coopermusicalcomponents.com/

Hi Tyler, I am interested in pots, caps, wiring harness and have not been able to reach you. Sent an email to your Hotmail but not sure if you received it.

    The ULTIMATE upgrade.

I too have a 2019, end of year run R9. I was told the caps are correct paper in oil but the wiring harness, wire type and pots are not right.

Wilko, do you think the width of the saddle, with increased string surface area contact, influences sustain as well?

    The ULTIMATE upgrade.

All, I have a 2019 R9 Anniversary. I thought the pots, caps, harness and pickups we’re supposed to be “clones” of the originals? Or not?
