• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Neck reset on a 54 Les Paul JR

Hi all, I've got a 54 Jr that has poor factory neck angle. The action is still too high even after lowering the bridge. We have already corrected the common leaning bridge post problem. The original bridge is one of the thin eared wraparounds. The only thing short of fabricating/modifying a...

    Question about pots/caps on a 2004 R9.......

Hi, I just bought a 2004 R9 and it looks as though the pots are replaced. Here's a pic: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v735/redarmyoverdrive/DSCN8318.jpg They appear to be 2007 pots and orange capacitors. I'm assuming that a 2004 would have had bumblebees. Can anyone confirm what the 1st...

    50s P-90 Differences

Hi there, Is there any difference between a dog ear P-90 from a Les Paul JR vs one in an archtop like an ES-175 as far as height or base plate?

    ES-225 parts, what fits what?

I just picked up one of my dream guitars...... a 56 ES-225 DOUBLE PICKUP in factory BLONDE! Unfortunately, I may have bitten off a bit more than I can chew. It's a huge project. It looks like the body was submerged in water and has warped. The bottom has split open and some genius tried to screw...

Allright parts vultures, buy this and give me the carcass.....

http://www.gbase.com/Stores/Gear/GearDetails.aspx?Item=845050 Dunno what's legit, but there's quite a fortune in plastic and coil windings there. Get out your soldering irons! Convert it! :wha :dude

    58 ES-295

I've got a cool ES-295 on the way. Serial # is A 27969. I'm assuming it's an original 'bucker model from the serial #. Of course this one has no original parts and has been refinned cardinal red. Anyone have any idea how many humbucker ones were shipped? I'll post pics when it arrives.

    Cloud Nine 54 Black Beauty?

Did any dealer order a 54 BB with the cloud nine option? I'm really intrigued by the possibility of a chambered body with a P-90 and the Dearmond-esque Alnico. Add a Bigsby and you're somewhere between a Duo Jet and a Les Paul. Sounds like a good idea on paper at least.

    Kinda rare one: sunburst ES-295

I lucked into this one from a dealer in Omaha: An ES-295 in rare sunburst. I just got it today. It came with chrome 1960's P-90's, a rosewood bridge and a Barney Kessel bridge. I tossed on a spare 60's B-6 and Gotoh TOM. I'll grab a set of creme P-90 covers later for it. There's 2...

    ES-295 wraparound bridge question

The wraparound bridge contraption on a 50's ES-295 is the same thing as the one on an ES-225, except gold plated, correct? Same mounting plate and length I assume? The base just rests on the top and doesn't screw in I'll assume as well. I have a 50's 295 coming thats had the tailpiece swapped...

    Show me your Bigsby!

How many of you have a Bigsby on your Paul? Here's mine: http://community.webshots.com/photo/133245015/251722373dOHlVN It's a 72-ish 54 Custom RI. Since it's had a amatuer refin, replaced tuners and was missing its original Alnico pickup, I didn't feel bad slapping the Bigsby on her. So who else...

    '56 L-5 CESN on ebay

Jeeeeez, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3748343165&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT It's amazing how much this thing is already up to considering the neck appears replaced and the seller indicated it could be a refin. Outta my price range considering the issues, but dang, it...

Guitar Porn! My '56 L-5 CES

I just got this last night and snapped some pics. http://community.webshots.com/photo/179863880/179864384mkJSDb Jeeeez-us, this thing has got it. One of the best necks I've ever played. The original Alnicos were replaced with P-90's. It's got some guts and growl, but also some good 'bloop'...

    Gibson L5 CES case

Hey Hammertone, I may be interested in one of those cases. I just worked out a trade on a 56 CES and I had to end up using the case from my 72 CES to ship one of the guitars I traded. email me at

    Dang! I hate being poor!!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3735395332&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT I watched this beauty for 10 days. I knew that it would go for big money, but said "hey, maybe I can snipe it at 5K" I had made arrangements to raise the cash in case I did win it. 5K was the absolute max...

    Kluson Sealfast tuner question

This has been stumping me for a long time. I have a 72 54 Les Paul Custom reissue that has unfortunately been Grover-ized. In the quest for correct tuners I've came up with many questions that I hope some of you folks can answer. My assumption was that the original Black Beauties came with...
