THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and recently moved to a new hosting platform. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
Please support our Les Paul Forum Sponsors with your business - Gary's Classic Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, Reverb.com, Throbak.com and True Vintage Guitar. From personal experience doing business with all of them, they are first class organizations. Thank you!
That's what I kinda thought. I was trying to give EC the benefit of the doubt, but that's how the mix seems. Why bring on a hired gun guitarist just to bury him in the mix? Clapton's always been a bit of an odd bird to me anyways.
I recently bought a CD of Layla and Assorted Love Songs. It seems that Duanes guitar volume is generally too low throughout the recording. Did I get a bad remaster or is that how the original recording was mixed? I dont remember it being like that on the old LP version, but I dont remember a lot...
The final word. This from Gibson Customer Service:
"Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The pictures and serial number are consistent with a Les Paul Signature T model in Wine Red finish, made on the 7th day of 2013 in Nashville, TN. This originally came with Min-ETune tuners and the truss rod cover would...
So most likely the truss rod cover's been replaced. I know it has the Vintage Relic 50's wiring. If it is indeed a Signature T, then I guess a 3rd mod is the manual tuners. They should be Grover locking type and not Grover Deluxe.
The research I've been doing points in the same direction. Count me in as a T truss rod cover hater. What the hell was Gibson thinking putting that cheap looking thing on a Les Paul?
I bought this guitar because it's almost lmost an exact clone of a Classic that my wife brought me as a gift some years ago. I sold it and have regretted it ever since.
It's not problematic. As I stated, I bought the guitar because I like the features. I would like to know what exact model I own though.
I read somewhere that the first 2 numbers of the serial should represent the year, is that incorrect?
This morning, I purchased this guitar on Reverb.

My first question is shouldn't the first 2 numbers of the serial number be "13" if it's a 2013 model?
I'm not an expert on Les Paul's, but...
Replacement Pickups For 2003 Les Paul Classic
I've found a good price on a 490R neck and 498T bridge used (from a Les Paul Studio I think).
My Classic sports a 496R and a 500T.
Now, two questions from a Les Paul novice:
Will they provide a more classic mellower tone than my stock pickups?
Will...
