Finish checking

I'm interested in a guitar that has a lot of finish checking only on the back of the headstock. The finish on the back of the headstock also looks more orange peel than the rest of the guitar.

The whole guitar checks out under blacklight inc all the cavities and the serial number is still visible so I doubt it's been refinished. There's a couple of other bit's of checking around the neck joint but other than that no checking on the body. I can't see any signs the headstock being oversprayed.

Any thoughts really appreciated. Anyone got or seen a guitar with similar checking?

Thanks!

Hard to tell in that one picture, but looks ok to me. The exposed grain on a neck changes with the contour. So a headstock and heel may have different checking then the middle of the neck. Same with body etc.

A little scary looking to me. Is the whole guitar like that? My '69 has nowhere near that much checking..

Here's some more pics inc some blacklight ones. I'll take detailed pics of the whole guitar once I've bought it. It's being sold by a very reputable dealer so I'm sure it's absolutely fine I just haven't seen one with this kind of checking before so just interested for my own education.

I would say short of "razor blade" imitation checking, qualifying checking is difficult at best. That looks legit to me. Tough to say where a guitar spend its days, but how it was treated more so.
