• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

OFFICIAL PIC THREAD: Let's see your LSLP's !!!

Good call on the TP. I have put a lightweight TP on. To me, it sounded better with the heavier one.
Yeah ,that guitar is pretty tight.:yah

Hi Wilko,

these are beauties !

Everytime I see this picture I wish I would have bought the GT when it was for sale.. . Sometimes decisions should be made very very quickly.

Wow, a 60's "Vintage" LP Forum on LPF, Hell must've frozen over (haven't been here for a while)! :laugh2:

This is my March 69 GT, who I bought for $300 in the early 70's with her GT stripped and converted to Schallers. Later I converted her with the vintage 59 345 PAF's which I bought for $150 in the mid 70's, switched her over to Grovers, added the 50's vintage pup selector knob and Faber TP and Bridge (still have the original parts).

LP_01.jpg

She sounds great but at 9lbs I don't play her as often on the gig as my others below, a chambered Studio at 6.5lbs, and a solid Chinese clone at 7.5lbs (had a couple of knee surgeries).

Is this the only picture you have of it? Since it has the original P90s in the picture, I assume you did the humbuckers yourself. How did you modify the pickup cavities? Thanks

The LP in the group photo is a different guitar from the crown inlay P90 LP. Randy Brown who was the luthier at Rockin Robin in the 70s and 80s installed the HBs in the gold top in the group shot. I left the crown headstock LP stock.

djd,

Pretty cool to have a 60's forum, was shocked when Mike asked me to run it! :)

What kind of pickup rings to you have on your 69?

Hi Moonweasel, you probably remember me from MLPF?

Not sure about the pup rings off-hand, but they're real Gibson's purchased in the mid 70's when she was converted with the PAF's (from P-90's). I'll take a peek next time I change strings and report back.

I wanted the tall bridge pup ring which I guess is hard to get now excepting Gibson's "pink" historic stuff?

Kudos to Mike for giving us late 60's first re-issue people a forum here, thank you Mike!

Hey man! Nice to talk to you again. I am HORRIBLE with keeping up with everyone. :)

Anyway, take some good close ups of the underside of your rings and post them sometime. 50's ones are worth as much as a new car.... no, I'm not kidding.

Nice Custom!

I had one back in the day, a 69 with gold Bigsby and Schallers, weighed a ton but sounded great with it's stock T-Tops.

Happy New Year all!

Chris, since you spend so much time modeling cars, what do you make of the rear "pontoon" thingies on the new Ford GT? The proportions in the side view on that thing are UNREAL, perfect. Has to be the biggest windshield of all time. :)

From the drawings I've seen it looks pretty spectacular Stephen... maybe a bit too far removed from the classic GT40 shape though? Those side air intakes are huge and I do like the rear of the car better than the front... it'll be a looker in Le Mans spec, that's for sure!

Late '69 LP Custom with 3 piece neck, sandwich body, sn 89335x. A few mods I made during the '70s: early '60s PAF installed in the middle, bridge & neck pups replaced with late '50s or early '60s double white PAFs pulled from an ES-175!! Unfortunately, I sold this to an old college roommate for $350 in the '80s! My excuse...it was too heavy. :##
