• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

What amp(s) do you gig with?

For many years I used either a Super Reverb or a Twin, but lately I've been using a '72 Bandmaster Reverb in a custom 2x10" combo cab. I jump the reverb channel into a Crate Power Block (150W!!!) & that pumps the Leslie Model 130 cab, also custom built.
Here's a small pic of the amp. I'll see if I can't find a photo from a recent gig so you can see the "stack".

Here's a bad pic, but you can see the Leslie cab that the Bandmaster is sitting on. I don't know where that Strat came from. Probably borrowed:

Almost always a 5E3 clone. Before that it was a Mesa 5:50. Before that, my Vibrolux Reverb.

A Marshall, either a '71 Super Bass or an '86 2204. I usually bring them both and keep one as a backup. Sometimes I don't know which one I'll use until it's time to power them up...

69 drip edge bassman or a 78 deluxe reverb that was blackfaced by Jimmy Somma.

1963 Vibroverb reissue or '62 Deluxe. I have a JTM45 clone and 1970 Basketweave cab and wish I could use them live but, we hardly ever play a venue large enough for that kind of action. Hope springs eternal, though!

A Princeton Reverb from '75 and a 5E3 clone. Stereo heaven.

Sometimes a Tweed Super style 2x10 but with a Bassman Transformer set, so 48 watts instead of 28w. Jensen Neo spkrs to handle the power.

Mike Cucci at CP Amps is the guy who built it. It is light and very powerful if needed.

When I can get away with it, my '76 JMP 50 into a '76 straight cab with blackbacks, and my '77 2204 for backup. But more often than not either my '61 Deluxe or an 18 watt clone.....

for a long time it was a 1964 Deluxe Reverb.

The last couple of years mainly a SF Princeton Reverb with a 12" Celestion AlNiCo Blue.

These work great for almost all gigs.

For show sometimes I'll bring a half stack. Either 50 watt Marshall or 50 watt Hiwatt.

:) Never noticed his shoes. It must have been the lights reflecting. We were outside in a Marquee.

A dang cool lookin' band nonetheless.

Bass, drums, 3 guitars, keys, and 2 horn players.

It takes some special people to keep that all together.

I salute you sir!
