Layered Fingerboards?

Thank you for the link. I've been trying to find an explanation on Gibson's website for their use of different woods for fingerboards.

Of course, the question has to be asked, "Why does Gibson have to resort to laminating two pieces of rosewood together to make one fingerboard?" Is it difficult for them to find or legally bring into the USA fingerboard blanks of the proper thickness?

what a joke, gibson is shooting themselves in the foot with this shit, i would rather them not make many guitar than mass produce laminated rosewood, particle board, and baked maple fretboards.

Yeah -- they need to find a longer-term solution that allows them to freely use ROSEWOOD. I suspect they're working on it.

Agreed, like I said in another thread Historic Division needs to take about a decade off.

Hmm.
The Feds say 6mm is too thick to import. So less than 6mm is OK. But less than 6mm is too thin to process, sanding radius, inlay and resand etc.
So laminating Indian Rosewood is forced on Gibson.
Here is the rub. More trees are cut down as a result. That means more waste.
More money. Transport. Saw blades. Time. It will cost more than double.
The Feds should be proud of themselves. They are responsible for giving the green light to the Indian Govt to cut down twice as many trees and all because of 1mm.
Why aren't the tree huggers up in arms with the Feds on this.
