Why what did he have to do ?Update: I just got a ship notice from Mark 2 days after placing the order. Incredible service considering it was a custom order he had to make special.

Why what did he have to do ?
I got to try a set of the Ox4 Beanos yesterday in a soon-to-be-seen booteekey guitar. Some real extra snap to them. 5% extra sizzle on the top. We ran it into a 1990 brown Fender VL reissue ( find one of them Fender lovers-whew). Very impressive PU.
Regarding the question on PU height and adjustments, here are some pics of an OX4 Beano set in my R8. I spent quite a bit of time tweaking with height and adjusting magnets to get the balance and drive I was looking for. The PUs are balanced really well and I am digging the sound. Love the bright steel clang of the high notes. The sound is cleaner than my other modern PAF guitars. I like the low output sound. All of my other humbuckers are potted, so I can hear a difference there as well as it relates to the lack of potting. I have to say this is my first hands on experience with what the 50's PAF is really about. I can now hear a tone similar to what I hear on real burst videos, and I LIKE IT! I am wondering about the level between the black and bone bobbins being a bit off (see 2nd pic). Should I be concerned with that?
Here is a quick pocket recorder audio recording I made of the Beanos switching between pickups. If you don't have a Box account, just X out the log-in box and click the play button.

That's what heard with the Beano set here- cool that it is repeatable at the builder. Not witchkraft and madgik..
Nice playing- tasty. What amp are you playing through?
Anyone know if standard sized covers fit OX4 PAFs? Got some on the way, need to order nickel covers...
Out of curiosity, since quite a few of us have purchased the Beano set, I'm curious how everyone is setting them up. Doing any polepiece adjustments? Where are you all setting the heights for balance? Trying to replicate the album tone or going for something different?
I'm still playing around with mine, but I've got the neck about 2mm from the strings and the bridge about 3mm away right now (with string fretted at last fret naturally).
Are the Beano Ox4’s done with A4 mags?
Seriously... the only things that are certain in life.....death, taxes, and duaneflowers and El Gringo spamming Wizz and Throbak in another pickup maker's thread
