VOL pot first for Bridge pickup

I know there are some out there, cause when I had my R8 at HM
Kim had wired guitars back like this.
So if you learned on a junior(LP) how to play,the first knob operates the bridge/pickup.
All my subsequent LP`s are wired like this.
Are there any others out there?
