• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Just thought I'd point out that unless you use your tone control often, your caps won't change a thing. With "Tone" on 100%, whatever you have between the tone in (whoops - out) and earth, is irrelevant.

Is this true for vintage wiring also, or just modern wiring ?

True with both wiring methods.

DISCLAIMER: This assumes you're using a 500kΩ tone pot, to complement your 500kΩ volume pot. I wouldn't have thought it common, but one forum member noted having a 100kΩ tone pot; so that's similar to having the 500kΩ pot turned down a few notches. But if you have the typical volume & tone pots, but never turn the tone pot down below "10" then the cap is meaningless because you're getting the signal about as bright as the pickup/volume pot can manage.
