I can't find Micro-Mesh anywhere in London (or the UK) and have not so far been able to find wet & dry paper finer than 1200.
I spilled some EVERCLEAR 190 proof, 95% alcohol on the guitar the other night and it 100% removed the nitro finish .. fear the booze !!!Hmmm, I wouldn't have guessed that rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol would've done anything. I wonder about booze (ethyl) alcohol? Do I have to worry if I spill my beer?
Here's a picture of my explorer with alcohol damage to the nitro cellulose. https://imgur.com/a/vIix3Ly
The problem is , I don't have any good luthiers in my country, so VB I'll need to do it on my own.
man , thanks a fucking ton! You helped me fix it https://imgur.com/a/uC5ZoyOLooking at that, I would try something like this first - auto shops will sell it. Or better still, the stuff that StewMac sells. Rub it, polish it, buff it.

That's the stuff . This brings back memories of my old tech with his magic ding and scratch remover and it was a auto polish remover . Works the best !Looking at that, I would try something like this first - auto shops will sell it. Or better still, the stuff that StewMac sells. Rub it, polish it, buff it.

Google micromesh - it is widely available from many UK suppliers. You should be able to get 2000 wet and dry from most automotive suppliers, I bought some from my local Halfords store recently.
I would assume the alcohol on nitro issue would also extend to using hand sanitizers just prior to playing?
