THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING!
We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin
Here's my new V. My bass player made it. I couldn't help but stack up all the amps for some monster riffage. This shot is before I wired them all together. :!
I opened up my '73 cab, rewired and replaced one speaker. I got a '72 lead cone greenback to replace the RI that I had in there. Now I got two graybacks and two greenbacks. The interesting thing is that the two grays and one green all date from '73. Enjoy ... :! :!

Hi everyone. It seems like the Marshall people like my page on non-MV Marshall circuits, so I went ahead and did one for MV circuits too (I had some requests for this.)
This page details the master lead circuit. It also includes lots of popular mods for the MV models. There are gain mods and...
Yes, the Violator (my '69 SuperLead) is getting a promotion to gigging amp. This amp is really a mutt. It didn't even work reliably when I got it. It sounds so good and thick now that it's going to the next gig. The low-end is thick too. It's got great sustain and harmonics that just out at...
Today is going great. First I fixed the purple '72 50 watter. Now I just got a new set of JJ EL34's for the Violator ('69 SuperLead). I also got some Mallory 150 caps and some carbon comps for my JTM45, along with the tubes.
... and I've got band practice tonight!
:! :! :!
My '72 50w has a problem. The distortion sounds bad, especially in the low-end. It has a kinda hollow sound on the low notes, when you hit the strings hard. This happens on both channels. It's not really a lack of bass. When I play single low note runs, it kinda sounds like there is a phaser...
Here is an updated shot of the Wall of Doom...
On the left, is a JTM45 with KT66's and TedB mods on top of two 4x10's with G10L-35's.
The center is a '72 50w (balls galore), next a modded '76 50w (Trusty - metal territory here), then a 1960BX cab w/ G12M-25's.
On the right is a '69...
I just spent my afternoon working on my JTM45 RI. I just put some new KT66's in it. OMG, clean to break-up. I'm in heaven. Here's what I did:
1) lowered the filtering to 32x32 and 16x16. F&T makes a 16x16 cap that fits in the clamp.
2) added grid stopper resistors (5.6k) to the control...

... when my wife finds out I bought another amp in the last 2 weeks. :eek
First I bought a beat '69 SL that I'm restoring (sounds awesome). Now it's a JTM45 RI!!! This will probably be a project amp also. I'll probably do a PTP board and put an MM OT in it. I got this one for $600 USD, so...
I just got a new amp. It's a '69 super lead. This amp is totally beat. I kinda got it for a project amp and to tinker around with some mods. Both trannies are changed. The PT is an old, old marshall replacement. The OT is Mercury Magnetics. I kinda wanted to hear what the MM sounded like...
I came across this purple 1972 50w. Does it look OK?
The PT has been replaced and the price is lowered
accordingly. You can see that the mains selector wires are clipped (hardwired). No grid resistors. Any comments?
I love purple.
