Saw some pics of a burst with grovers joe just got interested in its story but also wondering what kind of price difference a burst with and without grovers makes?

It makes almost no difference to most Burst buyers or owners.
As condition goes down from mint to well worn it shifts.
There are even some that would see it as an asset. :ganz

Having a plain top is more of a price deduction. Personally, I think Grovers make them sound better. But that's just me.

I've put Grovers on all of my Les Pauls. I just had too many of the Klusons slip or fall apart on me over the years.

May I ask which qualities of the sound you feel improve when using Grovers as opposed to Kluson and why ? Genuine curiosity here.

Obviously results vary, but after three fell apart, or died while I was playing a club, I switched to Grovers. Never had a problem with it after that.

I have probably lived a bless life.* :jim

I have had more than one fall apart. One of my black Les Pauls has a repaired Kluson on it now, but I'm not sure which one. It fell apart during a gig and a guitar tech super-glued the back cover to the base. It made it through the show and I never thought much about it until now. I just always though it was a very shoddy design compared to a Grover. Even the Norlin-era waffle-back tuners have lasted better for me. I have one Norlin Custom with waffle-back tuners with most of the tuning keys ben, the headstock repaired multiple times, etc., and the tuners still work great. Funny thing is that it is also my best sounding guitar and one of my main stage guitars, pancake body, 3 piece top and all.

Never a problem with any of my '50s Kluson fitted LP's. But if it came with Grovers and they worked, I'd be ok with that to. :salude

Could you please show us a photo of these Kluson keys? :hmm

The guitar is a 1959 Les Paul Standard serial 9-0378 ...It was purchased from the son of the original owner
whom I now consider a friend. It's a great guitar that is pretty mint other than the grovers which went on in 1978. They are there to stay. :salude They make the guitar sound better.

I know I'm about to get rocks thrown at me, but when it comes to buckered Les Paul's doing anything from Hard Rock to HardCore, I prefer Grovers and a zinc tailpiece with brass studs.

My gigging reissues are all set up that way.

Every Les Paul(or Gibson for that matter) that I've installed Grover's on has been an improvement.
