• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

The sticker on the pickguard(on the TH ) is different from last year ? also The serial # on the standard historic series is back to the old way of just the digits without the dreaded S ? . So would this not qualify as a new year of instruments ?

They never had an "S" in the serial number, it was an "R"

I just seen on Wildwood.com new instruments page several new standard historics and true historics, historic select .So the wait is over ,also with last years digit in the serial #.Also the standard historic went back to the old way of being numbered without the S letter before the serial #

The serial numbers are vintage correct now but how does one distinguish between HS or SH or TH now? Better save your box tops. :hmm

There's also a $1500 price increase across the range. :dang

Very confusing to say the least with a major exception for the price hike (s)

Just checked and don't see any at all. No std. Historics with 2017 serial numbers.

They have 2016 serial numbers...

He stated that.

Yes, somewhere in the range of 500-1000 guitars sitting on shelves.

Seeing as all those new releases have '14 or '16 serials seems as if Gibson may be sitting on some leftover stock from '16 production.

I'm wondering if some of those aren't repurposed CC or Sigs. That lemmon looks like or could have been slated to be a one of a few recent models. :hmm

I'd wager Gibson won't bring out '17s until they sell through the '16s.

I take it back. WW just listed two new '17 '58s in heavy aged. Priced much lower than those leftover '16s. :hmm

There are a few 2017 that were made but only a few are available- no more production for store stocks unless someone orders a m2m

$6k for an aged R8? Who's buying these?

People who have that kind of money to spend and like the look of those guitars.

BTW, You don't have to pay the advertised price on guitars from Wildwood. Call them. Ask for a better price. If you're not a tire kicker and willing to throw down the dough, they will cut you a deal.

I hope they're not waiting for me to lift my embargo on the CS....anything made after Edwin left can be half a million, or a penny - as far as I'm concerned they can stay on the shelf.

I have well and truly seen my arse...

Vive la revolution....

The aged R8's at Wildwood being talked about are from an ordered "Made to Measure" run, so they have nothing to do with the 2017 Std. Historics that are still sitting and not being released. Any dealer can order 2017 M2M guitars right now.
