• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Positive vibes, Big Al. You will beat this! :salude

You know, not to sound morbid, but I think I am getting it, that I can't beat this. I hope to carry on as long as I can, but the very real possibility exists that my plank spanking days are over. It is funny in a way, I invested in my home Digital Recording set up, and have an amazing collection of guitars/amps/effects, just stuff I never could pull together, and now that I have it, I CAN'T USE IT!!!!

It is like Fate is giving me a big ol' finger, right in the eye. I may have my son, Nick record some stuff I can still do on his phone and get some pics up, but this has been a real slap in the face.

SLAP!!!!:##:##:dang

Still, you bastards have helped keep my spirits up, and I know no matter how diminished my capabilities are now, you bunch would only see the positive of that, and it helps me to see the positive. Still, I would have rather gone blind.

So thank all of you for helping to lift my funk. You all really have no idea how much it really helps. I may not be able to play well, but I can listen well, and spend a lot of time playing music to listen and marvel. To time trip, you know? Those songs that mark certain portions of your life. You hear it and BAM! IN THE WAYBACK MACHINE, SHERMAN!!! it's 1969 again and I can almost taste it.

WE are all blessed as I see it, because Music, the ability to play and create Music is a sacramental gift that is universal and timeless. I think we as musicians need to remember that sometimes. The simple joy of communing with music, touching that thing deep inside us.

I can guarantee when I do leave this plane, I'll be soaring on wings of Melody and Harmony. It will be good.:hmm:hank

Al-

I've been on the forum since the earlier days. Don't post a ton, (more of a listener than a talker). But I've always enjoyed your commentary, experience and humor you've brought to the forum over the years years. You are part of the foundation of this forum. Fight the good fight! God Bless!

In the past ten years, spending time with aging parents & their friends, I still find it amazing how music effects people with memory loss. People who have no idea who their children are or where they are living seem to remember all the words & melody lines of every song they dug in their past! Music (& musicians) have a deep impact on many of the people they come in contact with. I always wondered, if we could understand the part of the memory that retained the music that we seem to never forget, could we cure memory loss??

Hey Al, we are all terminally ill and immortal. Many of us just don't know it. It could be a fast moving bread truck or an illness. Me? I prefer to hit the floor dead one day. Unfortunately, we don't get to choose.

I hope you feel well today brother! :band

Hey!

I just saw this highly motivational video. And I wanted to share it with you, Al.
I'm going to admit there are actually no Les Pauls in it (sorry!) but at about 1:20 and on there is a sweet rock band. Any one know them?
Their guitarist seem to have some serious chop even though he can't use his arms.

Big Al,

Best wishes, man. You've got a great attitude, and as you know, that goes a long way.

Here's to better news next time at the doc's.

I'm waiting for my custom made body parts and the Surgeon is working out how it can be done, as this procedure hasn't been done before. If I say I'm scared shitless it would be an understatement. Of all the surgeries I have had, this one has me quaking in fear. I would do anything to not have it done, but I really have little choice.

All I can hope for is a quick recovery and a painless result. If by any miracle I would be able to play guitar, even if it is just barely, I would be happy.

Al,

I hope it goes well for you. I don't post much in here anymore, but I check in basically to read this thread to see how things are going with you. That's why I logged in just now.

Best wishes. We're all praying for you.

Boys, Al doesn't want to see beautiful women with guitars and without.....

Here, Big Al, let's bring this back to what's important: my Les Paul Traditional with Classic 57s.
