• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

Mike, hope it's ok to post Fender Basses here. Let me know if you prefer to keep it just to Fender guitars. Post your Vintage Fender Basses!

This is a 1980, Fender Precision Special. Atypically, it is solid Black-Walnut. They made 100-150 of them, and they were really expensive when new (still are). 1pc neck, no fingerboard. Mine has a few changed parts, some originals in the case. I toured with this one a lot. Originally, they had a passive pickup with an active "afterburner". You could flip a switch and completely bypass the active circuit. Had an aftermarket solid brass pickguard on it (to go with the brass nut) when I found it. The pickguard alone was three pounds! Amazing bass, was the first time they reissued a specific neck shape (period literature). Found it for a song at Guitar Center back in the day, they had no idea what they had! Gold hardware.

'68 Precision Bass. Nice sounding and easy player with a slightly narrower nut width.

Here's a 68 i sold back in July. It was a very light bass and sounded insane! Had the old style guard on it when i purchased it and i thought it looked cool like that, so i left it. Also, a pic of it onstage at Red Rocks :)

Great stuff! What a place to play! I love old Fenders

My walnut bass is just under or at 9 pounds, which I was told was pretty light for a bass, walnut especially. I have no idea.
