• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Early to mid 90's... :hmm

Actually any pre Nashville bridge model... I think that was 2007ish or thereabouts...

That's a while back, so I really don't have an accurate timeline on these. :hmm

It depends on what features you define as good, and how much collectability is an issue. If your pal has found a Classic he likes for a good price, that's all there is to it.

If he wants a Classic for paticular specs, there have been lot's of variations. Define the make or break specs, and you have your answer.

If it is more of a vauge, how about a Classic? I can't help.

My 2004 has a Nashville, so pre Nashvilles's are earlier than that, of course the OP may prefer a Nashville of course. :salude

Your friend should try any and all years and find the one that he likes best.
Eliminating certain years can mean missing out on the best one. :ganz

Pre-2003 Classics have specs that sit between the Standard and Historic ranges but with thin necks. A good set of pups improve the guitar no end. 2003 and beyond are essentially Standards with a thin neck and different pups.
