• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

2015 Les Pauls, what are they smoking?

The big boxes will continue to get watered down FSR models to appease the masses.

Looks like it has that boat paddle head stock too from the 70s. Ugh!

I don't know why they would install E-tuners when you can just clamp a $20 Snark on the headstock and tune up in seconds. E-tuners strike me as just a gadget that can break as the video painfully points out.

And what's with the wider, asymetrical neck? It would be interesting to know what kind of players Gibson thinks this will appeal to.

They suck. OMG. Lots of posting elsewhere, the immensely overwhelming opinions are that (A) Gibson (HJ) is going to lose a whole lot of sales (int'l are already baulking prior to NAMM and Frankfurt) and (B) There is virtually nohing "socially redeeming" on what they did for 2015. 2016, well that already has me scratching my head.....

The necks, the nut, the string width, hologram, headstock scribble, G-Farce.... well heck, I hope they don't decide to "improve" on the back control plates, LOL!

TW59, are you commenting on Germany's YouTube policy or my post? I can make my post go away quickly. I definitely do not want to offend.

I'm friendly with the owner of a large USA dealer and they are selling NOTHING. There are meetings at Gibson this week to figure out what to do.

I wonder if one of the "Gibson family of brands" is making the G-Farce system?

If so it may just be a way to boost that company's bottom line so HJ can dump the company while they are showing a profit from selling all these tuning systems to Gibson.

Or they could just be trying to recoup the R&D costs...

I know I purposely bought my '13 Standard to avoid the "120" inlay and G-Farce.

The neck on my '13 is asymmetrical with a compound radius but the neck is the normal width.

Mine isn't shredder thin like some I've played. It measures .82 1st and .88 12th. It's a bit thinner than most my other guitars but has a very comfortable playing feel with the "A" shape and compound radius.

It'll be interesting to see how low the prices actually go to move the '15 USA models.

Anybody ever remove one of these tuning systems and go back to analog tuners? :hmm

The Min E-Tune is a German product from http://www.tronical.com

BTW: The Hitler scene on YouTube is from the incredible film Der Untergang with the amazing Bruno Ganz as Hitler.

I'm so glad I bought a 2013 model, before the 2014 and 2015 models came out.
I'm sure some people will find merit in those features but I'd rather stick to the pre 2014 features.

Germany's youtube policy.
I tried to open the youtube of the Electromagnets [Vintage Area] and it was blocked, while this youtube of Hitler [obviously an actor, and hilarious] plays just fine. I am often told that they don't approve of things regarding Hitler, so I was surprised.
Keep it up, it's great!

Well, I thought they dropped the ball with the 120th Anniversary logo inlay in 2014. No need for something so tacky and crass.

2015 is a natural extension of that. All the "upgrades" are truly against every part of me that lives as a musician. All these changes take the guitar further away from what I believe it should be.

Maybe we are living in the times of a new "Guitar Hero" generation where this is the next step along from the Playstation or Xbox. Everything else in life has been dumbed down and technology has made lives easier and now it's arrived with the Gibson guitars.

Personally I don't want to press a button to tune my guitar.

My last Gibson USA guitar purchased was a 2013 SG Original, one of the best guitars I have ever played and owned, smokes some Historics. It's as perfect as Gibson have produced in an SG for 50 years in my opinion. After 12 months production they axed it. :## Now we have this collection of instruments and I won't be buying another guitar from Gibson USA ever again unless they sort their s**t out.

I wonder if the extra depth of the headstock with the G-Force system will result in more headstock breaks too? :hmm

Can the tuner tell when each fretted note is out? That would be helpful.

Anyway, its a fine line between out of tune and "piquant". I prefer the latter, of course. This is what makes some really great players stand out.

Hideous typography on the headstock! Why do you even need that self tuning nonsense? Tuning a guitar is pretty damn simple.
