• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I did it. I couldn't resist. The price was too good. My R0 neck was too narrow and causing numbness. Plus, with all the Custom Shop rumors, this may be the last chance to get the pinnacle of an era for Les Paul's. Pre-Edwin Wilson firing and one last Murphy aged TH.

I love the orange and the fading red. Perfect flame and dark rosewood board. I'll have it tomorrow.

Here she is!!!! Super light. Most resonant Les Paul I've ever owned. Funny though. The stopbar isn't pinned down to the top. Quite the contrary, it's rather high, almost like it's top wrapped, but....it's not. Very slinky. But, that's what I wanted. Ease of play.

The reason why I went all in on a True Historic wasn't because of the hype or snake oil. I know it's an extravagant purchase, first world problem, but I had been developing numbness in my left hand.

It'd start at the meat of my thumb and progress toward my ring finger. So, if I was in the middle of a song that required more intricate parts or heavy barre chords, it'd be all pins and needles and I'd struggle through or shake it out and drop out of the band for a second.

I'd had a few R7s and R8s. They were comfortable, especially the R8s, but on paper the R0 was only .050ths of an inch less in diameter than an R8. I never thought it'd be a problem applying just a little bit more pressure on less of a neck, but it did. And it bummed me out. My larger Martin 1 3/4" D-18V never causes me pain and I knew I had to go up a size.

HOWEVER, that said, I think the bigger culprit was the shoulder or lack there of on the R0. Coupled with the smaller neck, equaled pain.

Outcome? Just as I suspected. Been playing all afternoon on the TH58 and not one twinge or sign of hand issues.

Oh, and the price. Yeah, I basically got it for 40% street price. Cha-ching!!!

I've got the exact opposite problem with my hand. A pinched nerve in my neck that leads to my thumb is greatly aggravated
with the R8. My first reissue was a 2012 VOS lemonburst R8. Loved it. Played it till my neck was killing me. Got a 2014 R0 and
neck pain gone. Traded the R8 for a 2016 R9 that had small shoulders and have had no problems. I have played other R9's
that had bigger shoulders that did aggravate my neck though.

HNGD! :salude She's a looker!

I had exactly the same strain problem with a '91 LP Classic. It took me a while figure it out. I thought I was just playing too much. :dang

The neck got snapped at the head stock and while it being repaired I used a friends '74 Tele for a while and the pain went away. Still had to get the Classic back from repair and feel the fatigue again before I figured out that the neck was just too thin for me.

Enjoy your new axe! The THs really are something special. :dude:

I lookyed at yer pictures and have one question. When did your house get flipped on it's side? Don't you think you should get that taken care of before buying a fine guitar? Where are your priorities man? I mean, it's a VERY nice guitar and TH's are all that and a bucket of chips, but you needs to fix that house!

That happened as a direct result of playing the TH all day and night. Locusts are next. Maybe a flood. Les Paul's have strange powers.

Congrats, that's a really great looking LP. I recently picked up a TH 59 myself so I get it if you can't stop playing it. But c'mon man we need some better pictures of that sweet axe. That thing deserves a full on photo shoot

Gorgeous shot , that cherry sunburst color is perfect. I usually like Lemonbursts but this looks fantastic. I almost want to have HM respray my Lemonburst this color

That's exactly what I thought. The True Historic finishes, non-aged, seemed a little too "plum" n color. This one has that yellow/orange center, more of a gradual burst and perfect red. Not too cherry, not too plum, and a hint of orange. That was one of the reasons why I sold a Historic Makeover. I didn't care for the finish, especially the overly yellowed center.

You are a very lucky owner. I played on that one quite a few times. You are correct, it is definitely extremely resonant. And the top is very much to my liking. Though, if I'm not mistaken, the neck on that is closer to a '59 than a '58. I recall talking with a couple sales people and they agreed the neck was a bit thinner than a '58. I think the rest of the body has '58 specs, but the neck is customized to be on the thinner side. Could be wrong on that one. But that is a beautiful score.
