• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Gibson "chainsaw" case - fair price ?

The slick black or the ones with the stamped recessed Gibson logo and faux tolex exterior? Both had the plastic tounge and groove snap latches I think. An SG model would have more value than the Les Paul model.

Kinda pinkish looking shag carpet interiors on those things. Always reminded me of the hair on those Troll Dolls!

EDIT --- One of my old friends reminded me that he saw some chainsaw cases with nicely coiffed blue interiors. I beleive him.

The first version [Gen 1] is the smaller. Made late 70s.
Gen 2 c.1980.

Great thread. I didn't know there was only one model. I have the one on the right/bottom in the photos. I use it for my old SG when I travel. I paid $60 for it on Craigslist.

There ya go!

Just check if there is a space below the neck heel. If so just put a small soft cotton towel there.

I have a Gen 2 SG case. While the Les Paul outline fits, it is too shallow, even for a Junior.

My 1985 LPC has one of the cases with the blue interior.

Holy crap

JT .... until you posted about that flowery doohickey logo on the access box....I had completely forgot about that. I remember,a swirly looking flower. How funny is that? Can't remember what I had for lunch 3 days ago. :laugh2:

Clearly recalling guitar related stuff from 37 years ago.

Hilarious and sad! I'm cool with that.

So, the original question seems to remain unanswered. :hmm

They seem to be getting about 100-140 for Gen I.

I haven't paid more than 100 for the few that I've bought.

And shipping is not cheap. usually 40-75 bucks.
