Les paul Standard 2010 - 2013 vs 2016

hi all

I am not an expert in LPs because i haven't used many, but I have done some research and i would like to take your opinion

i want to buy a LP Standard. should i go for 2016 or 2012-2013? forget about price difference for now, i am looking for the better one regardless if it is new or used as long as it is $2,800 or less

here are the facts that i know:

2016 Standard is AAA
2012 Standard is AA (Standard plus is AAA)
both are bursbuckers
Both should Kickass

but i because you all know that specs change every year, an i keep hearing that newer models are not necessarily better so i want your advise on this.

There are loads of threads covering the different USA LP models but generally speaking here are the '12-'16 LP Std differences:

2012: 2 piece fret board, long tenon

2013: 1 piece fret board, long tenon

2014: 1 piece fret board, long tenon, "120" Anniversary inlay at 12th fret

2015: wider 1 piece fret board, long tenon, brass nut, E Tune, lower fret wire

2016: 1 piece fret board in normal 1 11/16" width, regular nut material, lower fret wire, short "USA" tenon

Nice axe. I just picked up a used 2013 Premium Plus in flamed honeyburst. Waiting on the brown truck to arrive them will post pics!

EDIT: It just got here. Already put on 2 reflector knobs as the first step in my Gary Moore mod job


It is super lightweight. The assymetrical neck is a little weird feeling but comfy. Sounds good but I will be putting in BB3s.
