Which Fender combo

I'm looking at a few Fender combos, The Twin Pro tube, Twin reissue,Supersonic, and Super Reverb. I mainly play at home, no neighbours, and do the odd gig, I play mainly blues with a bit of Jazz. I've tried the supersonic which was impressive but I have little experience with Fender amps and would welcolme any advice.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I love Fenders and have lots of them. I have a Super Reverb and Supersonic and have owned several Twins. All of those amps are great, but over the top in terms of volume for home use. The Twin is very loud, and the ultimate clean amp, but lots of output and you're pushing some air with the 2 x 12. The Super has the classic Fender tones but you're pushing a lot of air with the 4 x 10. The Supersonic has the master volume if you want to add some crunch without too much volume, but it's still a very loud amp, and I don't think it is as completely natural a "Fender clean" as others. It also depends on whether you want natural tube distortion that comes from both pre-amp tubes and power tubes or just from pre-amp tubes, or by using a pedal.

For what you describe, a Princeton Reverb or Deluxe Reverb could be perfect for home use. Since you're also into jazz, you'll have more clean headroom with the Deluxe if you want to crank it up. Even those two amps can be very loud, but since you do a few odd gigs you'll have some juice with both if you need it. Just my opinion; hope it helps a bit. :hank

Like a lot of guys on this board, I've been through countless amps; combos, stacks, etc. I've settled on a Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Get a few good overdrive or fuzz pedals and you're set. I've handled lots of varied gigs with one. I tried several amps in between and recently came back to one. Oh, just FWIW my current band plays oldies, blues, rock, a littel of everything. I'm from the old school, most of my influential players played stacks.

Thanks for the replies guys. Mike my real concern was just that, the supersonic clean sound although good maybe was not as natural as say a Super Reverb or Deluxe reverb, however I thought the burn channel of the supersonic was excellent for a classic blues crunch sound, one of the best that I've heard in long time, but that natural clean Fender tone is important to me and I would not want to comprise it, I've also good some good distortion pedals.

Does the Deluxe reverb take pedals well? Any expereince with the distortion channel on the Pro tube twin? I hope your still enjoying that beautiful 50th anniversary R58.

I tried a Supersonic when I bought my DRRI a few months ago, I had tried one last year and I just wasnt crazy about it, I tried a Mesa Boogie Express 5:50 1-12 with them. I had an Express 2-12 last year and it was jsut too loud and too heavy. If you want a high gain amp the Express 1-12 would be good.

I think after everyones comments I'll give the DRRI a go. I'm a very old school kind of player. Mind you the Super Reverb just looks so cool:)

The only downside for the amp is that cab be bright (DRRI). There is a cap that can be removed though.

I love my tweeds, but if he wants the classic sparkly Fender clean (because he said he does some jazz as well as blues), I still think the Deluxe Reverb is a better choice. If he wants more blues tube distortion all the time, then a Tweed Deluxe is a good choice. Not a lot of clean headroom, though, unless you keep the amp and guitar cranked down and/or really lighten the pick attack... :hank

I know there are many ways to go, but I LOVE my little Tweed Ltd. Edition Blues Jr. It is wonderful for bedroom volumes and can also get fairly loud with some nice tones for Blues too. :salude

I hated a Tweed Deluxe.

To the OP: Deluxe Reverb or and old (non reissue) Vibrolux Reverb.
SuperReverb is loud but still sounds beautiful at home volumes.

I love my Fenders from my 1968 Bandmaster to my new '57LTD but for cleans, reverb, tremelo, lightweight, and just pure tone my desert island amp is my Carr Rambler. Will have one till they throw dirt on me.

I'm with Mike. The DR is hard to beat. I view it as an all purpose amp. For a bit more gig oriented, go with a Vibrolux Reverb.:jim
