• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What were the best "dust ups" we've had here on the LPF during the last 21 years?

I just read some of the Kandye Kayne 1960 Explorer thread! I mean wow!
At first I found it interesting and entertaining but then it took a darker tone and ultimately started to feel a little unsavoury and distasteful. I'm not surprised it got shut down.
Made me focus on who I would and who I wouldn't consider buying vintage guitars from! Probably did the same for others.

Wow. I was the guy who noticed it was the catalog burst! What did end up happening?
I spoke to Jim about it at the time. He was so bummed about all the bad press, that he wouldn't even say if he still had it. An employee of his did tell me it had been sold. Sad that it's squirreled away where no one can see it.

It’s all been great! The one forum I keep coming back to all this time. Dustups, well they come and go. And we learn! I really miss J-45 and Stockhippie as well.

The early years were a lot of fun, learned a ton from some of the older, original members here.

@Ed A mentioned RICH, but I also remember Big Al, Ed Rafalco(?), Dave P, Robocoptic, JokerJNY, and Karaoke Karl, and his endless search for an original 'Burst.

A lot of us got together in a seedy little bar in Stamford CT one afternoon. We jammed, hemmed and hawed about our Les Paul,, drank a few beers, tons of laughs and fun. I remember Big Al driving there from Buffalo (~7hrs), hanging, and then driving back that same night..

The 9-0623 or the thread that shall not be seen was the most dramatic I’ve seen. . I was lurking and just reading back then. That thread had it all. The yapper guitar (denial burst) thread that is now a sticky in the vintage section is another gem. I hate to think that some members who are very appreciated are not here anymore over some of those. There are egos involved in hundreds of thousand dollar anything’s. We love these guitars and in the end none of it will matter. We all will reach for that last gasp of air the same damn way.

Shortly after joining, BigAl came at me, all attitude and pumped up, because I dared mention my dislike for the rounded mother of toilet seat inlays of the early R's. That was an interesting intro. Al and I have locked horns a few times, but I also end up nodding heads with him on many topics. So is life.

The historics thread where someone called everyone little girls, dressing up their dolls....in reference to the idea of changing parts to be more "correct". That was pretty funny. Some toys (dolls?) were biffed out of cots in anger.

There was that guy in the UK that genuinely needed help with a fake he'd bought, and we all chipped in and managed to hold back our eye-rolling and attitudes for 3 seconds to actually assist him in avoiding what was fundamentally a scam. Good team effort there.

I've met many of the forum peeps, and they've all been great. I'd call a couple friends. Thanks CD and others for that privilege.

I'm working through the Historic Les Paul section for the third time (every thread) and I have found generally that if a thread goes over 4 pages a fight has broken out. :)

Oh, come on hahaha!!! I don't even talk that way!
I remember you were complaining about the helicopters hovering over your house because of your neighbors the Kardasians. You couldn't walk around your pool in your underwear anymore. 🤣
