• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What gear are we working with?! PICS?!

Haha, no, there would need to be a lot more Hamers and Gibsons!

Although, I have met Rick. The previous drummer in my band had been Bun E.'s drum tech back in the day, and he got me backstage for an entire day/evening, about 20 years ago (I was writing for a magazine at the time, and I did an interview with Bun E.).

Mine too, thanks! Rick is hilarious. Always "on;" of course he sat in on Bun E.'s interview. Since the show was in Florida (Robin lives there, or did) Robin had a huge family entourage and kept with them, and Tom is just painfully shy, so we hung with Rick and Bun E. Watched the show from sidestage. (y)

I have to say once again how very cool was that ? Awesome ! It's something as when I was a 9th grader in high school in the 70's a buddy turned me to Cheap Trick and said 2 of the guys look really cool on the Album cover (Robin and Tom ) and the other 2 are Bun E and Rick . First time seeing them in a theatre in 77 Rick was throwing out a ton of picks from FOS and we sure got our fair share . Big time fun !!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they really had it together on every level, great songs, great showmanship, great visuals, the right amount of virtuosity that didn't overwhelm the material. It's a shame they had a falling out with Bun E.

The cover photo of my band's 2012 album was taken by our drummer (when he was drum-tech'ing for Bun E.) back in the day, from the Trick tour bus window, in the Midwest. He never did find out why that car was on fire, haha.

That is a very cool album cover and an even cooler story ! . If I remember correctly it was either in 2014 or 2015 when Cheap Trick was inducted into the RRHOF which I attended both years and got to see them get inducted and Bun E performed once again with his old band . What was weird to me that his replacement was none other than Rick's son Dax , which really isn't weird as it's one family .

Guitars in order of acquisition;

No name Stratocaster (first ever electric still have it and want to fix it up).
BC Rich Warlock NT
Alpha acoustic
Gibson Explorer (2016)
Gibson Les Paul Studio (2016)
Fender American Special HSS Stratocaster (I still find it odd that I can split coils on some of my humbucker guitars but not this one)
LTD Viper 256
Jackson King V KVXMG
Gibson Les Paul Standard 60's (Bourbon burst)
Yamaha APX600 electric acoustic
Epiphone Riveria Custom P93
Squier Classic Vibe 50's Telecaster (an awesome guitar especially for price)

On possible future purchase list;
Jaguar (haven't decided on Fender or Squier yet)
A super Strat or super LP
50's Les Paul standard
BC Rich Mockingbird ST Legacy

Amps;
Vox VT40
Fender Mustang GT100
Vox Metal, Classic Rock and Blues plug in's.
Marshall stack 1 watt amp

Pedals;
Dunlop Cry baby Wah
Boss Metal zone
Boss Super Chorus

I find with a modeling amp I really don't need to bother too much with pedals.

I’ve met Rick a few times too, cool bloke who didn’t seem to take himself too seriously. Went up to NY once with a guitar to do a deal with him in a studio. Guitar deal didn’t happen but a I got some back up vocals shouting on a Cheap Trick track…. Good times!
