• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

What do you think about the new "faded" series SG's and LP's?

I'm glad to see Gibson addressing the lower end of the market. These guitars are just a tad higher than Epiphones.

I think it's a good move. I've played the SG version and it was really a nice guitar. The LP version looks like a flattop, no maple cap.

What do you think?

Looks like a 2002 version of "The Paul"....I bought a "Paul" as my first electric guitar and though it is beat...it is still sweet! I will never sell! Hope the faded 02's are as good.

I've got the sg and the flying V and love them both!!...I love the feel of the faded finish on the necks.
The price point on these guitars allows a person to put in there favorite pickups and upgraded caps etc...and STILL feel like they got a killer price on these guitars!!

I'd like to see a good pic of that faded yellow Lester.....

Not trying to promote anybody, but this is the only pics I've seen of it. I'd like to see one in person. I'd also like to see these with a 'Special' style pickguard on them. I've seen the red LP...didn't like it much. This looks like something I'd dig. I like the dots better than the cheezy (IMO) crescents too (SG & V).

Cudos to Gibson for the lower end market. I just returned the LP Special due to continuous rattling of the G string, open or fretted.

I hate the Nashville bridges. I think I'd like the yellow version. hank

I just bought the faded flying V. The thing sounded so good, that Michael Burks beat me out of it. It is now one of his main "road guitars". I have to find another one for myself.

I've had mixed results with the Faded V. One that I played was really nice. The other had sloppy fret work and it cut my hand a bit. I have yet to play a bad Faded SG though.

I couldn't agree more! I have had 2 faded V's in my hands and both had issues with either their quality or asthetics. I would say that for the price they are a great addition to anyone's arsenal...

I finally saw the faded SG in person. I loved it. If it had p90s I'd need it.
There's something wrong with shiny SGs anyway.

I like the look of the yellow one, but I've never seen these in person. These don't have the body contours, do they? I saw a similar "The Paul" style guitar and the contours felt really weird when I was playing it.
