• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

what do you guys think of the "fools gold " historics ?

personally I think this finish looks absolutely outstanding

here a description I found on line :

"Fool's Gold" is an expression to describe when novice inspector's mistook tiny pieces of pyrite for Gold when panning in the old mining days. The initial appearance is a slightly darker burst than the traditional Iced Tea finish, but upon closer inspection, you see the infusion of the custom gold process around the burst/body perimeter. Note: the gold infusion is extremely hard to photograph but look at the vertical body picture & you will see it on the left side. "

Its a nice guitar, but if im going to spend “Custom Shop Money” and for a Historic, then i personally want as close to authentic as possible to the year, the guitar was made to replicate.

So not for me, but nice

Its definitely not my cup of tea, but to each his own.

I agree with both of these. If you like it, and it inspires you to play the daylights out of the guitar, great! But I prefer a more traditional and authentic 'Burst finish as well.

Seems like that gold burst theme leans more toward the Gibson USA side rather than the Historic side. Is that Schaller strap button on there?

Um yeah not for me, but I'm sure it'll float someone's boat.

Pick one up with a good top but some cosmetic flaws at a deep discount then send it down to Kim for a makeover.

The color isn't for me. Nor is the "edge" burst pattern.
