Wah Wah Pedal Recommendations

Nowhere near an expert on these pedals, but here's a bit of research i did before buying the RMC4. It may save you a little time, or may be completely useless. Either way here it is, hope it helps.

I have a Dunlop cry baby, but wondering what others might use that doesn't "thin" your tone out so much (if any) ?

One question would be how do you like your wah to sound?

I personally don’t like the Vox wah, I find it too polite sounding, nice and vocal but not my thing.

I have the Dunlop Classic wah, it sounds way more aggressive to me and punches through more than the standard wah.

Probably not up anyone here's alley, but there was the De Armond 510 in the late 60s, which was a volume pedal coupled with a wah, with a pedal that rocked in both planes. Only reference I can give for it's use would be Hank Marvin's first solo album in 1969.
Rarely see them for sale and no-one does a clone, but if you were looking for something a bit different...
FWIW, it's a 'do-able' effect on any multi unit where you can assign the expression pedal to more than one parameter.

You'll think I'm nuts, but I've had a lot of great wah pedals, and my favorite is a recent Cry Baby Mini. I like that I can put it in a gig bag pocket and it works well in front of a fuzz. I got to be really precise with it with a little practice.

I have a stock Vox V847 wah because I like how it takes the high end off of shrill sounding amps when it's bypassed. I don't even usually use it as a wah!

I also have an old Fulltone Clyde for old time's sake.

I have three and all have a slightly different character. I have an original Vox and it sounds great for that original 60’s sound but the one I use regularly is a regular modern Crybaby that I hot rodded and tuned to my liking a few years ago. So many variations are now available. I’m sure all of them have their strong suits.

Lots of good Wah pedals out there.

My favorite is the Roger Mayer Vision Wah.

The Belair Wah is also nice.

Vision wah is built like a tank with formula 1 Carbon Fiber.

I love the extended sweep, tank build and smooth operation of my Ernie Ball Wah. Not sure if they still make it a I believe it wasn't a great commercial success.

It's more under the category of a phaser, but an MXR phase shifter is the way to go if you want a quieter, more sustainable sound for your guitar.

I recently got the Xotic Wah and really love it. I’ve had several Crybaby, Vox, Teese and Gagan wah pedals and like this one the best. Sounds great out of the box, but has external controls and internal dip switches to shape it to taste. Has a buffer so it works well in front of my fuzz pedals too.
