I have seen all scenarios play out. The one where most think it's a fake story and it turns out to be a burst. The one where most think is a real story only to be let down. And those where the consensus is right on the money. I will withhold my judgement on this one.

for folks who have been on the forum for years what's your understanding of the total number of newly discovered Bursts in the last decade ??????

"IF they had a real 1960 Les Paul, I would have already paid them the $9500 they were asking for it - without a single comment. " - Wally

Let's not forget the "trash bag" V that Joe B. bought, thanks to Nick Conte digging it up, literally out of the owner's basement. Also, the 58 burst he just bought out of Africa. They're still out there folks.

I'm not sure if you're post is a teese. If so then it made me laugh
But if you really did pay 3k thinking that you were going to get a stradavaious, and you really do think that this guy has got a 59 burst, then you are a scammers dream.
If you really do feel that he has a 59 burst then why don't you offer him 3k for it and I bet he will accept it. But you won't get a guitar that's for sure.
my wife still gives me a hard time over 'the strad' lol. he took about 7 months to befriend me and butter me up. the 3k was to travel to pick it up from an old friend then consign it to some cat in philly and i would get a cut.
i think he used it on medical expenses he had bad health problems. (he said)
i could tell you about some huge losses i took in business from freak circumstances, i dont think anyone would believe me . and it was again my unbridled faith in humanity for some of those as well. i,m becoming more conservative lately
i,m wondering why this 59 burst dude would take so much time to divulge a find like this if he is just making it all up. what is he 12 years old?

about 4 years ago i was reading a thread on an amp sight and out of the blue and totally out of context a guy posted one sentence 'i want to sell my 1958 les paul' his post was already a few weeks old, i messaged him and asked 'hey by chance this wouldnt be a les paul standard would it?' he wrote back and said yes.his name was joe barlow and he was the original owner he sent pics it was a plaintop. he told me he had to take it to a local shop to estimate value, he got back to me with 250k firm. i wound up ligning up a loan and offered him 175k but he had already sold it to a guy in england who already had another one. yes they are still out there. ps. he said it had nice hot pickups in it.

How the hell did you fall for that.

You say that "the 59 burst dude took so much time to divulge a find like this". He didn't. He just wrote one post and all you "wanna believers" were all completely suckered in to believing it was true.

I find it hard to believe how anyone gets duped by scammers, but honestly, some of the guys on here make it real easy for them.

We are up to 5 pages of posts and we still haven't heard from him and we still haven't seen any photos of the guitar and still some people are hanging on to the possibility that this is genuine. Un-fecking-believable.

There are two music stores in Catonsville MD that I am familiar with and could authenticate this guitar if it exists.

and

of the two, Guitar Exchange would probably be the most capable as they deal primarily in vintage guitars and amps. Bill's is a great store but they sell all kinds of musical instruments from guitars to trombones and may not have the experience to evaluate a vintage Les Paul.

It doesn't exist my friend. But I sure your advice will be greatly appreciated and is good to know.
