I long for the days of cranked Marshalls and Fenders. Tim Pierce's comments about the sweet spot on a BF Fender reflects what we have all learned over the years. There is a beautiful natural compression that is difficult to achieve any other way. The trend towards smaller amplifiers isn't really a secret. BF amps were designed to have a strong treble response. I have found those frequencies are what people find most offensive. It's easier to crank a tweed deluxe in small venues without complaints.
