ya might want to double check the math, its a mile every 10 seconds, a mile a second would be 3600 miles per hour. Or approximately Mach 4.727, about the speed of a 50 caliber bullet

Imagine just how quickly it can derail! Nice concept; mega wreck when it happens, though. Much too fast for anything travelling on rails.

Nah, I say put it in at Disney. Cram some cotton candy, chocolate bars, cheeseburgers, and a couple of Cokes in their guts and LOAD 'EM UP! A complete and total Barforama!!!

I think this train doesn't run on rails, in the conventional sense. It is mag/lev and doesn't rest on rails. I suspect the "connection" system is enclosed, as opposed to sitting on a rail, like normal trains.

OK, so it won't "derail," per se.

But, what happens if the juice to the electromagnets "levitating" the train is interrupted, and the train suddenly starts scraping along the now-dead electromagnets at 350 mph? Seems like it might slow down rather suddenly...:ahem :ahem

Well, I'm sure the engineers have thought of everything: stray birds, loose trash, cornering, how fast to speed up, how fast to brake.

Still, 361 mph is awfully quick to be flying so close to the ground. It might be best to be in a sealed tube, so nothing gets in the way...

But that don't matter...jump in, buckle up, and let 'er rip!!!!!

Forget the extraneous train hardware. When the technology has fully matured you'll be climbing into your coffin sized Magnalev capsule and shot down the rails at 361mph, automatically routed to your stop.

Amtrak is obviously not going to have a hand in any of this if it's to work.

We need some of them trains here, that's for sure. Imagine, Detroit to New Orleans in less than three hours. Or NYC to Phoenix in under 7 hours. On a train!!!

Tracks and trains probably cost a lot more than airplanes and airports though.....

Mark my words: Someday they'll be the topic of the biggest train wrecks ever.

yeah, somehow somebody manages to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like that train wreck in the UK fairly recently. Some punter rolled his car down a hill, through various barricades and onto the tracks, causing a truly horrific derailment. Can you imagine a gasoline tanker and a maglev train collision? Hm, excuse me

< Hello, Hollywood, I got this idea for a fantastic explosion, all I need is a movie to put it in. A million dollars? Are you kidding? What? Ok, yes, I'll accept 5 million >

Ah, I gotta go, got some bursts to buy :lol2

I lived in Germany in '98 when a high speed train wrecked at 200 kph (about 125 mph). 100 people were killed. Murphy's Law is hard to avoid.

Anything thats got to do with transportation has proven to be flawed over time.
