• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

OK, I got this problem, I know but this has been on E-Bay and
Instrumentexchange.com for 6 months with a starting bid price
of $490 with NO BIDS on it on either site. About a month ago,
I started ragging him to drop the starting price and everytime an
auction would end, I'd rub it in....

"Hey man, it's just inventory!
MOVE IT! It's NOT selling!
Glad I'm not YOUR boss!" That kinda stuff...

Today I got him down to $375 and it's MINE!

TY....and yup. A used regular CLASSIC goes for about $300
but for $375 with that maple, it's a steal. I think the LTD maple
went for $700+ new. It's not just a pretty combo either. The maple
cab will have a sound all it's own too...

I never thought I would ever own a piece of PEAVEY gear but I got to
try a CLASSIC 20 and a CLASSIC 30 at a friend's last fall and I was stunned!

My friend has 12 Boogies of all kinds and other amps as well and he tried
one out and loved it. Now he has one of each CLASSIC model.

That amp looks great in maple. Those Peavey Classic's (20, 30 and 50 watters) sound fantastic through a 4-12 cab.

That is sure a sharp looking cabinet for sure. Only, I am always affraid that the cabinet would get scratched, so it would not go to gigs with me.

I have the standard fake tweed looking version. It is a cool sounding amp on the clean side. But the gain side is a bit edgy for me. I need to sell mine since I already have too many amps and I just bought another Les Paul (Gem w/P-90).

I know that you hear a lot of folks say they changed out the speaker for this or that. Mine has the Shefield. I tried putting a Celestion G75T-12 in, and MAN it made a significant improvement. I find that whole subject of "improved tone" to be , well, subjective and usually don't trust those type of comments. I left the Celestion in for about 4 weeks and played it a bunch around the house. Yesterday, I put the Shefield back in . . . WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. There is no longer any bottom end that the Celestion was pumping out.

I have had the Marvels before, but I never got a chance to do an objective comparison to anything else.

Great score. Anytime you can get a LTD of something at that much discount, then you are ahead.

Good score man! If you're not getting one with the amp, get a tube guard, a good padded cover or a road case.

Dang purty!

:yay :yay

I use a Tube Tamer and it helps somewhat. Still have a lot of noise.
I bought mine about a month ago off of Ebay, it's 10 yrs old.
These combo's are rough on tubes - of course I haven't heard an EL84 combo yet that wasn't hell on wheels. One suggestion is to clip some of the springs that hold on the tube guard to make them shorter. This will increase the upwards pressure and help more. The way mine cam it was really loose.

I have to admit, I do pretty good with instrumentexchange.com
even though it is a front for Guitar Center's used, demos and trade-ins.
I got my 1998 SG-Deluxe on there for $600 there too.

Plus, I've gotten some good deals when I've gone into the store.
Sure, the music is WAY too loud to audition the gear sometimes, and
some of the salesmen are just kids with minds of mush but I've done OK
..........there so far.
