• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I spoke to the cats at Chicago Music Exchange today and they informed me that the 59 Neilsen's are on the way. They also told me they will be a new web dealer for 2016 and have ordered over 250K worth of guitars just for the initial order. I had no idea this model was even coming and heard nothing about it. Gibson is only building 50 aged signed for the world with 35 for North America. I am sure they will all sell out because 50 is a low number.

Here is something Gibson has not done to date. CME was allotted 5 of the Neilson's and they instantly all sold out. If you bought one from them you can take delivery of it in the store and they will announce the date where you can take a photo with Rick and his real 59 and you with your reissue. Now that's kind of cool. They are doing this promotion since Rick was originally from Chi town area.

Selling price $12,099 and they are gone. No surprise they sold them so fast but I don't see these as being as cool as the Ace Frehley.

Watch the vid: http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com...sen-1959-les-paul-standard-9-0655-aged-signed

I don't care for the video. Rick is asked if he ever used that guitar on any major songs and he replys "yeh the good ones". Then they ask him if he ever used it on any famous live shows and he says "we played 300 days a year so I am sure I did". Pretty lame ass answers if you ask me. Dude cant even remember the importance of his guitar.

Looks like any other lemon burst Reissue and the pricetag. There have been many runs of aged/signed models limited to 50. When I think Nielsen I think explorer shape. Obviously the importance of this Les Paul in his career isn't much considering his answers in that video.

When I think of Rick Nielsen, I think of Hamer, not Gibson.

Hamers came with fame.

Original '70s Cheap Trick; Vintage Les Pauls, Strats, Firebirds, etc.

Still kinda cool.

Sold out? Sure... I'll be amazed if ten of them sell this year.

I agree, that is kinda funny. The hardcore Cheap Trick fans, I believe anyway, don't associate Rick Neilson with a Les Paul. Great for Gibson if they did sell out but I don't believe it.

The few CME had have sold. That doesn't mean the other 45 or so aged/signed have sold.

I bet they sell. I think you guys underestimate how many buyers there are for things out in the world. Most of them don't post on the LPF.

Some don't even play guitar. Flippers and wall hangers.

Very true. But people are not buying high dollar guitars right now. There have been much more desirable LPs that have been sitting in stores for months. I am sure this run will sell out eventually. But I think it will be a while.

I should have been more specific. What I meant to say was that the Chicago Music sold out of their allocation for the promotion.

Rick was hoarding 50's Gibson guitars before Hamer existed. His LP that this line is based on is a more recent acquisition, but his obsession goes back to the late 60's.

And I think the run looks fantastic. To each their own.

I would really like to see Gibson do a heavily aged Original as a CC. Or at least one that has some distinct features that differentiate it. Something that when you see it you know what it is.

So many of the CC's look the same these days and Gibson seems to pick the more pristine Originals to copy. It's to the point where most can't tell one from the other without being told or going by the CC #.
